How many times have you looked in the Newsletter and saw who
was playing in the Pub, Friday or Saturday night, and wondered
if it was worth coming down to listen to them. Now you can
check them out first, read a bio, see what they look like and
maybe go to their website to hear what they sound like.

Camac

Con and his family came to CT in 2000 from Dublin, Ireland. Con has been singing and playing guitar for a long, long time. He had been a member of and had formed several traditional and musical folk and ballad bands over the years. Con and his sister Judy (who came over in 1998) got together and formed CAMAC in 2002. Colleen joined sort of by accident in early 2004. She is a classically trained vioinist but has found Irish music to be an excellent way express herself in a different genre.

Liz McNicholl & the Cricktones

Their music can best be described as "Americana" with a touch of folk, bluegrass and celtic influences intertwined. The group comprises of Liz on Guitar, Morgan Eve Swain on fiddle, Chuck O'Donnell on guitar/ dobro/ harmonica, John Hurley on mandolin/ guitar and Fred McKay on bass. Liz and the band provide the perfect balance of strong vocals, harmonies and riveting instrumentals.

Sandy Connolly aka
The Tune Chic

Sandy was originally trained in the depths of the Southland to sing opera, as her father was an opera buff and wept to hear her sing in that manner.  Her parents sent her to school to study classically, but she had the fortunate opportunity in 1986 to hear Bonnie Raitt in an intimate concert on Martha’s Vineyard.  There she found her musical calling:  the blues and rock n’ roll.  Throwing dirt on her pure tone and getting all gravely and groovy was way more fun, and way more people liked to listen to it.  Soon after, she began guitar lessons with the late Sal Salvador (well-known jazz guitarist in New England) and studied for three years getting her groove down.  She joined forces with lots of musicians in the New Haven area until that fateful day when she met Johnny Memphis.

Now she and Johnny are seen as a duo in many places around CT.  More recently, Eric Kuhn and Rick Haddad have been joining them to make it the Tune Chic Band.

The Irish Band

Evolving originally from a larger band known as Give Liam A Shout, the group known now simply as, The Irish Band, is a familiar sight at Irish venues in Stamford and the GAC. The band consists of John Donnelly on bass and vocals, Bern White on drums and vocals and John Hurley on quitar and vocals. They continue to make music the old fashioned way, with skill, innovation, and a copious amount of beer.

The All Grass Blue Stars

The All Grass Blue Stars is a non-traditional
"bluegrass" quartet that was founded in 2006
and is still going strong. The current lineup consists of Dan Neafsey, guitar and vocals; Colleen Filush, fiddle and vocals, Jon Ringel on the tenor ukulele and vocals. Two bassists rotate with the band, Fred McKay and Kenny Cash.

The Highland Rovers

The Highland Rovers were formed in 1993 by three men from Fairfield County, combining a huge harmonic vocal sound with extreme energy. The evolution of the band has been a synthesis of creativity, energy and an intuition about what the fans are looking for when they come to a Highland Rovers show.
