By now, you have received our request for donations to defray the cost of the sculpture we are erecting on the entrance to the Gaelic American Club. This will be an educational piece for our children, grandchildren and all those who may not know the history of the Easter Rising: seven brave heroes and many more gave their lives so Ireland could gain independence from England. We will dedicate the sculpture on April 24, 2016. The cost to get this accomplished is $45,000. We need your support, small or large. This beautiful piece will add to the beauty of our Club and will be a constant reminder that those who gave their lives will never be forgotten. We are a committee of nine: Rich Owens, Chair; Tom Keane, Treasurer; Mary Ann Doonan, Secretary; Pat O'Connell; Pat Dyer; Tom Walsh; Dave Howe; Ted Lovely; and Bob O'Sullivan. The State of Connecticut requires that all club members sign-in any and all non members they are bringing into the club. If you do not comply with this law, you are putting the club's liquor license in jeopardy and you are also jeopardizing your own membership. The sign-in book for non members is on the desk at the front entry. Although we have a group of dedicated volunteers on the Failte Committee that greet and assist people entering the club, it is not staffed at all times. More volunteers are needed. It is a great way for new members to meet people. If interested, contact Sue Allen. |
